Understanding Energy Layers,
From Debbie Rosas.
Our skin is a direct connection to sensation. The largest organ of the human body, our skin is perfectly designed to interact with the Cosmos through the human body’s somatosensory pathways; the complex network of nerves designed to transmit sensory information into the human body from the 7 ethereal layers, 5 senses, 7 chakras, and 3 energy coordinates of the Hara + Heart + Head.
Making up about 16 percent of body weight, we lose almost a million skin cells over 24 hours and in one year, we shed more than 8 pounds, or 3.6 kilograms, of dead skin, which is roughly 1.6 trillion skin cells, and between 30,000 and 40,000 of cells fall off our body every hour, reminding us that fresh skin is needed to stay healthy and aware of energy wisdom, while protecting us each day.
With more knowledge and understanding, anyone can learn to sense their fleece lined, smart, bold, sensuous skin coat like haute couture.
What is inside our body, mind, emotions, and spirit is revealed on the outside, through the skin we wear! Healthy skin is glowing, sweating easily, highly supple, flexible, and moist. It is strong, pliable, and heals quickly when cut or bruised. Healthy skin can clearly read signals of pressure, pain, and touch. Unhealthy skin may lack luster and become itchy or dry with poor elasticity, which heals slowly.
As a highly complex organ, some four million receptors cover the human body and according to Sandra Blakeslee and Matthew Blakeslee, authors of The Body Has Its Own Mind, “The sensory receptors in the body are distributed unevenly. They are densely concentrated in the body parts where you need high acuity and dexterity, and sparse in parts where superior sensory resolution isn’t paramount.”
Our skin is designed to protect what is inside of our body and at the same time, to provide us with access to our sensory awareness.
They explain that, “this is why the fingers can easily distinguish the individual nubs of velvet on an armchair, while your buttocks give you only general information about the chair’s firmness, temperature, texture, and the presence or absence of thumbtacks…” If there’s one thing that keeps us connected to our sensory signature and life from the inside out and outside in it is our skin and sense of touch.
Here are 7 Keys to Keep Your Skin Healthy + Your Sensory Awareness alive.
- Cleanse + Pumice: Clean your skin regularly with soap-free, natural, organic products and pumice your elbows, knees, and feet daily.
- Hydrate: Drink at least four, eight-ounce glasses of purified water every day.
- Workout: Cleanse your cells by adding daily movement and deep breathing to promote a healthy sweat.
- Protect SPF: Keep your skin soft and supple using products with sunscreen and a good moisturizer.
- Sleep: Keep your skin vibrant by getting plenty of good, restful sleep.
- Nutrition: Avoid sugars that break down collagen and eat foods rich in antioxidants to fight free radicals. Foods like Omega-6, found in poultry and cooking oils; Omega-3, found in cold-water fish, kidney beans.
