More Hours Of Bliss, By Debbie Rosas.
The Nia Technique Choreography Triad consists of:
- Movement: The 52 Moves of The Nia Technique in Seven Cycles.
- Music: A sonic landscape, which is the music playlist used to stimulate the body, mind, emotions, and spirit as well as the seven chakras, in any order. A diversity of musical genres is designed to stimulate the brain, imagination, emotions and nervous system.
- Magic: This refers to what we do to create the Nia experience which allows everyone the time and space to move and grow in their body and in their own way.
In Nia Choreography, the order of movement we follow is called Seven Cycles with the Nia teaching methodology of fluid Base, Core, and Upper Extremities. Nia choreographers build one hour of movement from the body’s Base, or the feet and legs; into the Core, or the spine; and finally into the Upper Extremities, or the fingers and hands. Beyond this structure, the Nia choreographer uses unique elements to create the signature of every Nia class.
Each class is an extraordinary body of work with a recognizable sound, look, feel, sensation, and choreographic style that clearly identifies itself for any viewer as, “Nia” and that every hour of Nia is part of an enormous catalogue in the library of Nia choreography that uses The Nia Technique to provide every body and every life the numerous options for achieving holistic fitness, wellness, health, and well-being lifestyle intentions for a truly sustainable difference.
Every Nia body of work also provides body and life skills for body awareness, communication, perception, creativity with Sensation Science. This is achieved using a specific focus and intention in every Nia body of work to create a unique story arch for each individual that purposefully directs personal mental attention toward defining the unique desired outcome. This is established by the teachers and the students in the very beginning of every hour of Nia.
Energy and movement variety come from diverse music playlists with inclusive genres from every culture across the time and space of the earth that creatively integrates the language of the 52 Moves of The Nia Technique. The infusion of nine movement forms from three key disciplines that includes healing arts, martial arts, and dance arts allows for every individual to experience their unique creative energy that opens pathways to inspiration and awakening.
The Nia Technique teaching methodology uses spoken words to describe visual imagery and to suggest body gestures or distinctive vocal sounding that provides students with tools for learning to use desired movements their body can functionally and safely do. Natural Time to move one’s body in one’s own way is continually supported through Attention and Response methodology which supports interactions and conversations between teachers and students.
Attention refers to the way in which a Nia teacher uses the spoken word with their body language to briefly attract the attention of the student. Response refers to the student receiving the teacher’s guidance in their own way and in their own time while using the information to mindfully guide their body and their body’s own way with action to become what a kind of conscious personal trainer. This is achieved through individual determination.
This is available for anyone who develops an easy skill set for looking, listening, and guiding their own unique individual movement while noticing sensations of comfort and pleasure for adapting movements to ensure the use of the principles of The Body’s Way, which is defined as the science behind how we fall in love with not just The Body, but with Our Body. This occurs in every hour of Nia for developing our Sensory IQ with Body Literacy. Pure bliss!
