Reclaiming Our Selves, By Debbie Rosas.

We are each part of a universal narrative. We are nested Human Beings whose purpose is to use Cosmic Consciousness to write and be written in a grand epic of evolutionary cosmogenesis. This grand epic is not created in parts or in sections and it is never fixed in time. In this universal narrative we are written, even as we are simultaneously writing.

Did I always know this?

No.

So, how do I know this? Three pivotal moments in my life, each experienced at a different age changed my perspective of my body and life from “me, to “we”, and “us” interconnected living. Each one added to my own wisdom, knowledge, and understanding of the Universe interacting with me and me interacting with the Universe, behaving as a whole, both thinking, seeing and feeling.

The first experience came in St. Missouri. I was sixteen, working in the emergency room at a children’s hospital as a volunteer Candy-Striper. I was asked by one of the nurses to go to the fourth floor. The nurses there needed my help. I could never have ever imagined the experience I was about to have in room 306, where I met Amy, a baby born with no arms or legs.

I was told to pick Amy up and hold her as the parents had abandoned her. As I looked into Amy’s crib, I was awakened as our eyes and hearts met in a Universal field of oneness. With no hands to reach out to me, Amy and I seemed to connect energetically in a way that I have never forgotten. Amy touched me more deeply than any other Human Being has ever done.

The second experience occurred in 1969. Man had just landed on the moon. I watched from what I believed was a great distance, feeling separated from the miracle I was seeing on the television. I was surprised by what I sensed was an inner and outer subjective experience melting into one that I defined as a connection with the divine and the moon.

I felt me and my life as part of history and part of humanity, belonging to the Earth and the Universe in a connection. I was left feeling my life had more meaning and purpose, and that my existence as little Debbie was shifting into big Debbie, participating in the unraveling of the mystery of living life in a body connected and part of everything, past, present and future.

Think about how you might know this same thing. What are some pivotal moments in your life, when you may have become aware that, like the Universe we are here, there, everywhere, and connected to everything all at once. How would you express that idea, using anything available to you, how would you choose to remember such a powerful revelation in time, as that?

The third experience came in 2014 as an adult. I found myself in a human dissection class with the anatomist teacher, Gil Hedley. Having never dissected a human body, my curiosity about the mysteries I was about to encounter raised my level of attention. With a scalpel in hand, I began to experience my own body parts and the body parts on the dissection table, as one.

I was surprised that the skin took painstaking hours, patience, and gentle care to remove. This skin was a coat that protected what was inside. When I closed my eyes and asked, “What if this skin is not protection, but a connective tissue between me and the space all around me and to the energy layers that connect me with the whole Universe?” I then heard a voice say, “It is.”
