As 2024 draws to a close, “Healing, Rooting, and Strengthening” deserves reflection.

The word Healing inspired us to take meaningful action, creating the Nia Healing Circle — a beautiful collective within the Nia Community devoted to sharing healing, energy, light, and love with those in need. Each connection made through this circle was a testament to the power of unity and compassion.

Rooting encouraged us to sense everything as sourced from within and anchored in the present moment. It reminded us to remain grounded, undistracted by the past or the future and firmly established in the world, in our communities, and in relationship with nature, the Earth, Cosmos, Universe, time, space, and the environment. In essence, rooting taught us about developing a profound sense of self, meaning, and purpose in all we do — about knowing where we stand and what we believe in.

Strengthening highlighted the importance of The Body’s Way, Nia somatic education, and embracing change as a force of growth. Through classes, programs, and new experiences, we remembered the importance in nourishing both body and brain with novel, fascinating information to foster growth and resilience.

As I have looked toward the new year of 2025 this question has emerged for me, “What needs to transform and change?” The answer lies in the relationships between “Me, We, and Us.”

Many have forgotten our connection to this mystery of life, to the sacred, the divine mother. Our ancestors honored this mystery through songs, prayers, and dances as they infused every moment with intentional and sacred compassion. They didn’t seek to solve this mystery; they simply celebrated it. They understood that the feminine spirit is this mystery, a co-creative force connecting us all to the infinite — the origin of all life, the Cosmos, and beyond.

I also find myself revisiting, again and again, a profound message I first received in 1992, which was that, “Humans need to change their relationship with the feminine spirit.”

The Focus of the New Year of 2025: Me, We, Us — Secular, Symbolic, Sacred.

• Me represents the Secular — the individual; what we experience as separate.
• We reflects the Symbolic — the connection we have with others.
• Us embodies the Sacred — the oneness we experience with All That Is.

While simple, these words speak to this profound mystery of the feminine spirit. They echo the wisdom of our ancestors and invite us to rekindle the sacred fire within, igniting a new vision and a new voice for enlightened action. The world has changed and with it, our call to nurture the feminine spirit within ourselves, our Earth, and our Cosmos. Does awakening to this wisdom matter? Absolutely. This reconnection is vital not just for humanity but for all living beings on our planet and these words serve as both a framework and an invitation.

Throughout 2025, the “Year of Me-We-Us” calls us to explore these stages not as isolated experiences, but as interconnected layers of our evolving consciousness.

As we move into the new year of 2025, we invite the Nia Community to embark on a journey of transformation, growth, and connection through the year of “Me-We-Us.” This year offers us a unique opportunity to deepen our relationship with ourselves, with one another, and with the vast, interconnected web of life that surrounds us. Guided by the stages of Me, or the Secular, We, or the Symbolic, and Us, or the Sacred, we are called to explore and embody these dimensions in our daily lives and in our collective practices.

Each stage invites us to deepen our understanding of who we are, how we relate to others, and how we move through the world.

The Me stage, which represents the Secular realm, is the beginning of our journey as individuals. Here, we engage with the physical world where the body is often seen as separate from nature, as we focus on the tangible, measurable aspects of life — time, space, and action. In this stage, we may feel disconnected from the larger whole, but it is through Me that we first learn to navigate the world, to understand the parts that make up our experience, and to become aware of our own personal agency. It is a world of doing; a world where we experience ourselves as separate from the rest of creation.

As we transition into the We stage, we enter the realm of Symbolic understanding. In this phase, we expand beyond ourselves to see and recognize the interconnectedness of all things. We begin to understand that we are not solitary beings, but part of a greater whole — a network of relationships, patterns, and shared experiences. In the We stage, we learn to navigate the world of archetypes, symbols, and meanings, while discovering clues that deepen our awareness of self and others. It is a world of connection, where we move from seeing ourselves as isolated individuals to recognizing the collective, the community, and the shared stories that bind us together.

Finally, the Us stage leads us into the Sacred realm, a space where we embrace the profound interconnectedness of all life. Here, we experience the unity of All That Is as we come to understand there is no separation between us and the Universe. The Sacred is a place of purpose, where we tap into universal energies and intuitive wisdom. In this stage, we are reminded that we are not separate from the divine, but an expression of it — our breath, our being, and our essence are all part of a continuous and eternal flow. In the Us realm, we listen deeply to the guidance of the universe, to the intuitive whispers of the soul, and we are reminded of our oneness with all that exists.

It is a journey that honors the sacredness of life in all its forms, and through this exploration, we will discover new ways to connect, to move, and to be.

Let us embrace the lessons of the Secular, Symbolic, and Sacred, as we move forward together into a year of deeper awareness, greater connection, and profound sense of unity with all of life.
