The Gift of Life Force Energy,

With Debbie Rosas.

Believing in mystery inspires me to look deeply into life and ask, “What’s it all about?” For me, questions aren’t just about seeking answers; they’re invitations to slow down, reflect, and choose consciously rather than react out of habit. I see every choice as a pathway to unlocking my full potential. But do I always make the right choice? No.

Like you, I’ve had my fair share of missteps. I’ve watched plans fall apart, despite my best efforts. That’s just life—the school of being human. What’s important is that we keep choosing and learning from the cause and effect of our decisions. Every night, before I fall asleep, I take a moment to reflect on the choices I made that day.

I notice their effects, both positive and negative. This nightly practice offers me personal feedback and body wisdom—insights that guide me to make better choices tomorrow. It’s not about perfection; it’s about progress and living with intention. In the world of Nia, the study of cause and effect is central to a teaching, Nia, Art of Alchemy.

It’s rooted in the 7th Universal Law: Cause and Effect. This law is simple—every action creates a reaction—but it’s also deeply complex. In systems as intricate as the human body, effects are often nonlinear.

Think about the “butterfly effect,” a concept from chaos theory. A butterfly flapping its wings might set off a chain reaction that leads to a storm thousands of miles away. This metaphor reminds us how deeply interconnected we are. What I do affects you, and what you do affects me. This is why conscious choice matters so much.

Sometimes it feels like there’s a starting point for every cause and effect, but the truth is, we’re always in the middle of a web of influences. Some are born of our own actions; others come from external forces beyond our control. Still, we can observe and learn from cause and effect in everyday life, like the predictable rhythm of sunrise and sunset.

When I pause to notice how my thoughts, feelings, beliefs, and actions create effects, I feel empowered to make conscious choices that benefit both me and the world around me. This practice of awareness has been a cornerstone of my journey since 1981, when I first set out to create Nia Education programs.

Consciously choosing Universal Joy creates a container for physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being. Integrating the physical with the metaphysical—once mysterious—is now supported by science.

From the start, I focused on integrating body-focused education to help people understand their bodies through design and function. Over time, this education grew into a lifestyle, guiding people to make choices that result in, “I feel better” outcomes. Healing, conditioning, and overall well-being are natural results of this process.

The very first principle of Nia, Art of Sensation is called “Joy of Movement,” which serves as a foundation for Nia practice and lifestyle. It connects us to the body’s primal state of being alive—full of life force energy. This energy exists in a physical and energetic state that welcomes all emotions and experiences, whether joyful, painful, or messy.

From our very first breath, our bodies are filled with the ecstasy of being alive, fueled by what we call Universal Joy. Universal Joy isn’t about chasing happiness or denying difficult emotions. It’s about tapping into the inherent vitality of life force energy. This energy becomes the cause that creates the effect of feeling alive.

Ancient wisdom on life force energy; which has guided healing practices for millennia, is now the center of modern research. And now, technology has made it possible to visualize it moving through the body.

To experience it, we focus on what we named a triad of actions called, “choose, sense, and connect,” to Universal Joy. The first action, “choose,” is powerful. It invites you to take responsibility for your experience, whether you’re moving through discomfort or leaning into the sensation of life force energy.

Universal Joy weaves through all 52 Nia Education principles. Each principle offers unique body and life education to sense, perceive, and feel life force energy to connect to the energy that runs through all living things. This connection fosters a lifestyle of self-awareness, conscious choice, and positive cause-and-effect relationships.

If you’ve ever doubted the existence of life force energy, know that it’s not just a spiritual concept. It’s real. Science has proven it, and technology allows us to see it in motion. By learning to sense and work with this energy, you can make choices that heal, uplift, and transform both yourself and the world around you.

So tonight, as you settle into bed, I invite you to reflect. Think about the choices you made today. What were their effects? What will you choose tomorrow? Remember, the gift of human potential lies in your ability to choose—again and again—and to grow into the fullest expression of yourself.

Together, let’s keep choosing with intention, one step at a time.
