Awakening Genius

Changing How We Think, From Debbie Rosas.

I continually ask myself, “How do we grow and transform while living in a body with such a complex brain that includes genius circuitry with the amazing structures of a prefrontal cortex, an amygdala, hippocampus, anterior cingulate cortex, and an insular cortex — all parts and pieces beautifully designed to work together for awakening us, even as we consider our unique individuality.

I am fully aware that these genius bodies of ours know how to use past lived experiences and to build resilience, diminish stress, and support our overall health and well-being by balancing our yin feminine energies and yang masculine energies. Most theories of physiological safety highlight the significance of emotional development, particularly the closeness and bond between a mother and an infant.

My business and work is designed to awaken a bond between people and the genius of their bodies by developing a sensory relationship with their one-of-a-kind physical selves. Growing, learning, and advancing in age with not less, but greater wisdom and mastery of movement. And, developing methods and techniques in service to enhancing fitness, health, and well-being for anyone at any age.

I pause to reflect on the immense gift of both my body and my work; both genius entities guided by a powerful physiological mediator: my life force energy, composed of the union of yin-feminine and yang-masculine wisdom. The positive characteristics of working with these twin yin-yang energy powers are too numerous to list, but what I can confidently say is that there is no better way for living fully.

In the body, a balanced union of yin and yang wisdom is one of the most profound pieces of evidence I have from my studies of the Martial Arts, especially Aikido. In applying the principles of yin-yang wisdom to everyday life, I have learned to find balance and to know when to engage outward force and when to engage with inward force and be still. This wisdom and skill didn’t come without dedication.

It required me to knowingly change, break habits, and practice trusting small changes that would gradually lead to new ways of living and being. I’ve learned to celebrate both small and big shifts as part of creating significant changes, such as the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual process in which I am immersed, called, “Awakening A New Feminine Spirit” for balancing feminine and masculine energies.

Whether feminine or masculine emotions demand our attention; if ignored, they only grow bigger, wider, deeper, and louder. I’ve discovered that working with both yin and yang energies gives me emotional power I cannot achieve with only one. I’ve trained myself to sense yin-yang emotional energy which shifts my body from the inside out, using each energy individually and collectively for genius.

These life force energies also help me manage my emotions using two different perspectives for enhanced wisdom. I also use a powerful mental tool to turn the volume of yin or yang energy up or down. By visualizing an imaginary control dial, I regulate my yin-yang energies and find the harmonious middle points — the union of yin and yang where I find emotional power and grace for balanced living.

The movement and intensifying excitation of yin-feminine and yang-masculine life force energies pulsing and streaming, deepens our connection with self and with life itself. Imagine a world where we are taught to develop and nurture both our yin and yang energies from the moment we are born — a relationship that helps us live fully, feel alive, and remain connected to ourselves, others, and the Universe.

Changing what we think and what questions we ask ourselves can shift how we express and manage our feminine and masculine energies. What is your emotional pattern of yin and yang expression? Do you communicate using more yin or more yang energy? Does your yin or yang energy withdraw and go silent in moments of conflict? Does it walk away and avoid contact, or does it scream and yell to get its way?

Our brains work hard to control our emotional expression and modulate the complex biological activity involved in our yin-yang decision making. It is important to remember that the brain manipulates our emotions to help us survive, thrive, and create better lives. All the different parts of our brain work together to manage our yin-yang energies and to help us respond to stimuli in ways to keep us safe.

Yet, this doesn’t always work perfectly. In moments of emotional overloads, when we lose our cool and blow up, we may feel powerless. In those moments, I have learned to pause, recalibrate, and reset. I come back to my emotional power and grace center using a soft smile and six deep breaths — a simple but effective practice that shifts my brain chemistry and awakens my body’s genius circuitry.

Awakening our genius circuitry is not a one-time event. It is a process of continuous discovery and recalibration, guided by the interplay of yin feminine and yang masculine energies. It invites us to create a life of sensing and directing ourselves while living in harmony with the life force that flows within and around us. This is the essence of awakening to the genius of the body and the wisdom of life itself.
