On Knowing Your Body’s Way, From Debbie Rosas.
As a Scholar of The Body’s Way, an Artist of Movement, and a Healer of Lifestyle; I understand that the body is my partner for both exploring, living, and mastering a sensory life. But, I also know the most precious and powerful resources I have are my body, my mind, my emotions, and my spirit and that embracing a lifestyle with The Nia Technique demands that I open each sensory intelligence to the extraordinary neuromuscular life within my body.
Part One of a lifestyle with The Nia Technique is called “Dancing Through Life.” It is the Sensation Science technique of Dancing Through Life that turns everyday movement into something that feels like a dance and defines dancing not only as something we do when music comes on, but as something we do on the stage of life.
Part Two of a lifestyle with The Nia Technique is called “Living Meditation.” It is the Sensation Science technique of Living Meditation enables conscious moments of stopping, slowing down, and touching to bring meditative aspects into ordinary, everyday living without taking time from our life.
Part Three of a lifestyle with The Nia Technique is called, “Life As Art.” It is the Sensation Science technique of Life As Art that shifts our perception of the world in which we live. It turns everything in life into beauty and inspiration and leaves us feeling awakened in every moment and in every aspect of life.
As a Sensation Scientist, the body is our laboratory. We are the viewer, observing, but also the observed. These two perspectives help us evaluate what is best for us and for our body. Given the constraints of finite reality and limited methods, concepts, and knowledge; we can only translate what our body needs by listening to our body say, “Yes, keep doing this, I feel better!” This is something we urgently need to teach to our younger generations, now.
In today’s world of self help and even detrimental help, I believe it is no longer necessary to separate psychotherapeutic and physiotherapeutic methods, nor allopathic medicine from naturopathic medicine, or lifestyle from fitness, health, and well being.
The old hierarchical patient – doctor approach to health and lifestyle are all moving toward a more cooperative partnership between patient, medical support, life, and lifestyle. This is an excellent step.
Learning to care for our body and life is an experience shared between us, our body, and our life. How do we know we feel better? We sense it. Sensation is the source of all body and life experiences. In a lifestyle with The Nia Technique, living what we sense means living a physically coherent life through sensation; that is, sensing first and thinking second. The Nia Technique educates us about sensing joy, as well as comfort, pleasure, health, and well being.
This is also a gift we can give to our partners, our children, our families, our friends, even our neighbors and our community. As the Holiday Season quickly approaches, watch for some unique opportunities to give the gift of The Nia Technique.
Through Nia, Art of Sensation and especially through Nia On Demand, we can offer others an opportunity to learn that their body belongs to them and that they can sense if their bodies are Ok or not Ok.
This is essential for every generation, for every body and life.
