Each human body and each lived experience is unique in all of time. It is distinct, like a fingerprint. It is a rare and precious gem. The choreography of your DNA is like a never before seen flower of ancient cosmic seeds. Your individual sense of time and space, of expression and movement in space is unique.

In Nia, The Body’s Way design reveals the special uniqueness of every detail of your body. Sensory perception is inextricably linked to and shaped by time, body, and lived experiences, which includes a myriad of countless variations. Natural Time describes a biological process of perception which Nia, Art of Sensation teaches as body centered or embodied awareness.

Your perception of time and body centered awareness is subjective. Sense of natural time is innate to all beings. In Nia, what we refer to as Natural Time is a moment-to-moment awareness of yourself. It is quite distinct from mechanical time, which is an external objective measurement to the human body’s sense of self.

Natural Time describes a biological process of perception which Nia, Art of Sensation teaches as body centered or embodied awareness. Simply put, consciousness is embodied awareness. It is a pathway to your mindful reflection for health and wellness and vitality. It is also a daily practice that is calming.

Sense of movement through time and space is subjective and innate to all beings. This sense is called kinaesthesia. The sensory study of kinaesthesia explores how your individual qualitative experience of time is synonymous with your individual perception of moving in space.

The organic state of the human body is always in natural time or, the present moment. Through the mind, using thoughts and feelings, human beings can travel limitlessly in any temporal direction of the imagination, but the body throughout remains in natural time.

In Nia, Art of Sensation, an emphasis on your experiential learning strategies integrates mindful reflection with movement and music. The experience of natural time might be sacred and fleeting. In a way, being alive is time itself – creating art, which may be expressed as a heartbeat by heartbeat, motion by motion, and day by day masterpiece.

Movement is always an artful expression of natural time. In Nia, an emphasis on your experiential learning strategies integrates mindful reflection with movement and music. Mindful and reflective movement practice with music helps develop body centered or “embodied” awareness, while enhancing systemic well being, health, and wellness.
