On Leadership

On Body & Life Leadership, with Debbie Rosas.

In response to occasional disharmony that needs my leadership attention, I’ve been continuing to develop listening, attending, and focusing my thoughts of healing, rooting, strengthening for what The Body’s Way leadership might look like for identified women everywhere in positions of service to any organization. Regardless of from where or from whom disharmony originates, when it appears, it will want and need our attention.

To achieve desired outcomes for everyone, very simply put, our intention is always toward harmonizing conflict.  Consciously receiving feedback from others both inside and outside any organization is a must. This includes experts in business and communication.  Often, it becomes clear there is a need to work better together with limited resources and other leaders and staff to reach initiatives toward diversity, inclusivity, and accessibility.

While no organization can ever meet every need or resolve every concern, when identified women in leadership view what is perceived as unrest for an opportunity to heal, root, and strengthen an organization, it reinforces a new sense of confidence in both collective and community endeavors. In meeting any organizational unrest, there is always an opportunity to learn from Body & Life philosophies which originate in martial arts training.

  • A martial arts sensei or teacher Illustrates, models, and invites students into the practice versus over talking or over explaining.
  • They show finesse and restraint, handle conflict quietly, and apply methods and techniques with the intent not to injure self or others.
  • They prepare for the unknown change by consistently practicing the necessary physical training for mastery.
  • They clearly define frameworks and maps to follow.
  • They integrate inner and outer attention and bring humility, compassion, empathy, awareness, observation, resilience, and a sustainable mindset to relationships.

At 73, I’ve known both successes and failures. Most of my successes were the result of following my Whole Being, while not following others. Most of my failures have occurred when I have allowed fear to overcome me.  Hearing and seeing an entire world of diverse voices with all their feelings, thoughts, and actions; without allowing them all into my own private body and life of health and wellness, has been and continues to be my biggest challenge today.

Blending an outer world of others with my inner world, is one Body & Life practice I always seek to master. At times, I get a lot of practice.  I choose to allow the voices of others to inspire me.  I do not lose my focus and intention toward my meaning and purpose through inspiration. Instead, I continue to lead my organization forward and create something better and something more sustainable to meet the needs of future generations. That is essential.
