As Earth Awakens

Awakening to Whole Being,

With Debbie Rosas.

According to yogic philosophy, a human body together with their consciousness evolves through particular transitional cycles of life. This includes a subset of transitions every seven years, eleven years, and eighteen years. How we live and move and emerge through these life transitions, within the transitional cycles of our Earth, will affect and determine our future.

I used to wonder if our Earth was conscious of me and of my feet touching her. Is our Earth a mind, which like my conscious mind, gets filled with a content of moment by moment perceptions and thoughts? Are they all spontaneously identified as belonging to our Earth? I would say that, “yes,” our Mother Earth is alive. But is she well? That’s our present concern.

No, she is not well. Like humanity, she is hurting and doing everything she can to speak and capture our attention, while hoping that we will work together to preserve her. She is our home and she is our life. Like my body, I perceive our Earth as a dynamic complex system, a physical body with a conscious mind that experiences the result of cosmic and human events.

I believe Mother Earth does her best to sustain homeostasis. Presently, it’s not enough. Her hunger and need for our tender care, her pain from our misuse and abuse of her elements, and her well being has hit a threshold of “no more.” She has lost her equilibrium and I can only imagine how she feels about human life and her existence as she struggles to breathe.

As she attempts to manage her global temperature, as she attempts her management of homeostatic balance; it has been disrupted. Hopefully it is not lost. I sense and hear Mother Earths cry when I spend time in nature. What must she do to wake us up? What can I do and what can we all do, to guide Mother Earth toward reclaiming her beauty and her balance?

As she manages air, fire, water, and earth alchemy elements, Mother Earth is aware of her sustained homeostasis which is no longer working. She is in a panic. What can she do but suffer the chaotic reactions, seen around the globe? It is hard for me to ignore her pain and sickness even as it affects the four realms of my whole being; body, mind, emotion, and spirit.

I imagine Earth’s natural electromagnetic fields and my body’s circadian rhythm are confused. In a twenty-four hour cycle of what used to feel like light and dark; the stress and lack of seamless continuity influencing my physical, mental, and emotional health and wellness lifestyle feels disrupted. I sense the semiannual changing of the clocks more than ever before.

I tell myself this story; the Earth’s nervous systems are out of balance, leaving both Mother Earth and me feeling unbalanced, nauseas, and out of sorts. Mother Earth is struggling to find her way back to her natural homeostasis and stability. I see the imbalance of mother earth in the weather as only one sign of her pain, and as a pain not localized, but rather, worldwide.

I sense the effects of the earth’s imbalance in people through the way they speak and behave. What can we do to treat the imbalance we are facing, when so many people refuse to accept any responsibility for both the health and wellness of themselves and their Mother Earth? We must become partners with our earth not for one day called “Earth Day,” but for every day.

Our whole beings and our whole Earth, including the Cosmos, live together. We cohabitate as unified electro-magnetic cellular organisms. Together, we must give Mother Earth what she needs. We must feed her with continuous of love, respect, energy, and nourishment. We must each provide our Earth with what she needs to create a vision for her sustainable future.

A future where all species and our earth thrive and survive together. What used to be a dominant relationship, humankind over our cosmos, must shift to tend to our Mother Earth. We must construct new ways of preserving and utilizing her natural and sacred resources.  Helping mother earth is not only one hurdle to jump, but one of so very many, many more.

We have to start somewhere. That somewhere is actually within reach each and every day. It is within our power to care for our own whole being which is nested within the environs of our Mother Earth and our Cosmos. And, if you think you needn’t concern yourself with being nested within the whole Cosmos, think again. Have you ever learned about space junk?

It’s time that you did, because stargazing has become a difficult seasonal nature activity, with so much space junk circling our Earth! We can no longer drink our water, breathe our air, walk our woods, or even observe our natural world without concern. But we can begin sensing our whole beings again and noticing any physical, mental, emotional and spirit disturbances that misalign us.

Our behaviors, actions, and thoughts are continually affected by the health and wellness of our whole being; body, mind, emotion, and spirit. We can take off our shoes and through sensory awareness and the felt sense of our body, we can touch and feel the earth in which we are all nested. In this, we become eco-friendly right in the moment we choose to awaken.

We can awaken to Mother Earth. We can awaken to the sensuous life force energy we receive from our Earth on which we stand and from our cosmos of which we are a part. It is our responsibility to create an environment for our body to thrive. But we must begin, one body at a time, in caring for our own whole being. Together we can create a vision for a new future.
